dale nikkel

Wow, I am still in a bit of a daze after our house concert! Dale Nikkel was AMAZING and I just loved him! He was quieter, maybe a bit more reserved than I thought he'd be, but still really easygoing. It's almost a week since the HC and now's the only real time I've had/taken to blog about it...P was on cloud nine, it was great to have so many of our friends come out and share this with us. I know it was a new experience for many of those there, and I know that more than a couple of people came only because it was P's 40th, but it was so neat to hear different reactions. A few people said later how much fun they had, and that they'd do this again in a heartbeat. This from people that didn't really expect to like it as much as they had. So that's kinda neat. I love it that our neighbour had so much fun that he brought his wife home and came back for more! The whole entire evening went off EXACTLY like I had hoped it would. Earlier on in the day it was snowing and yucky outside, so we were a little worried that people wouldn't be able to make it out. Dale Nikkel called around 6:45 and was in Mitchell, which meant he'd be showing up around 6:55 at our doorstep...from that moment on, all was well with my world! If only he could make it, then it was still great...and it turned out only two couples couldn't come, one because of weather and one because of illness. I was telling P that I was amazed at how relaxed we were with the whole thing. I was imagining all sorts of stressed out moments, but it wasn't like that at all! In fact it was the exact opposite of that, the kids when to granny and grampy a little after lunch, we cleaned the bathrooms, and after that, pretty much laid back, read the paper, made sure the coffee was going and some other little things, and I didn't even have my mom to clean for me on Friday (as they are in MEXICO) I am so impressed with the ease of it all, that I want to do it again! I loved looking around throughout the evening and seeing all of our friends having fun, laughing, drinking, eating and enjoying the party. I loved it that everyone felt comfortable enough to do whatever they wanted, if they wanted to mingle, they did, if they didn't - they didn't. I loved it that some of our friends that didn't know each other - got to know each other and had fun doing it! I loved it that everyone there was so accepting of our eccentric neighbour. I just can't say enough, and I think I'll start repeating it all over again, so I'm gonna stop there. I'd like to put a few pics on, but our in house photographer Mr DM himself hasn't sent me pics yet - ahem ;)
