Wilderness retreat

What a fabtabulous weekend! My hubby, P and I got back this afternoon from our annual family/marriage retreat weekend. We decided years ago that with the amount of money some people put into marriage counselling (not knocking marriage conselling) it might serve us well to dish out the cash once a year for an intentional marriage weekend, for the express purpose of strengthening our marriage. This has since evolved into a family/marriage weekend. As the kids got older we thought it might be neat to involve them in this "bonding" weekend and share a bit of our time with them. (It also helped that the cabin that we stay at offer a pay for two nights stay for three deal) Our kids come for one night, then our parents come and get them and we stay - alone - for the next two. We always forget, until we are there, how very important this weekend is for us. I mean, we always look forward to it, but then by the end of the second day, we remember why this is so good for us. It always ends up being a "vision casting" sorta time. There is soooo much I could say - but I'm gonna leave that for another time.

The cabin that we stayed in is in the Whiteshell, and I wrote this poem with the whiteshell in mind...

WILDERNESS SERENITY
Ruggedness,
Isolation,
Resonating,
Water rushes
over satin stones.
It whispers within me.
Peace washes through me,
As water washes
over satin
stones.
Moss
Soft beneath
my steps.
Inhale the scent,
as nature returns
to nature.
Bee, Dragonfly, Moth,
Harmonious
in their world.
Intertwining
yet
Separate.
My Canopy
of Leaves.
By Bed
of Moss.
My Blanket
of Serenity.
