and so she waits...

she waits...
huddled beneath her cozy, down-filled duvet. Her head cushioned by her soft, feather pillow, she waits with bated breath. She imagines what it will be like, visions of warm cookies, hot chai tea and a good book dance in her head. She tries to go to sleep so that the morning will come quickly, but her excitement keeps waking her up. Her dreams are filled with images of that perfect morning; Snow falling softly, sparkling and fresh, a brisk nip in the air, and children's voices pitched low, but filled with the excitement of the morning. She imagines hearing his voice, and imagines what she will do in that perfect moment. She tingles with anticipation as the clock draws nearer to the morning. Afraid to hope for too much, yet unable to squelch the random thoughts of "what if's" whirling about in her mind. Finally she hears it, quiet at first, and then louder as she swims up from her vortex of random dreams. Oh, his voice is just as she imagined it would be! Deep, comforting, and joyful all at once as he proclaims....Hanover School Division has cancelled classes for all students and staff! AND STAFF!!!

I could hardly fall asleep the night before...wishing...hoping...dreaming that this announcement would come over the radio. I finally fell asleep around 1 a.m. and woke up at 5:30...wishing...hoping...dreaming...and then at 6:02 that wonderful announcement was music to my ears. YES!! A snow day before I resign. What a wonderful day.
