I really enjoyed my evening...our horse came home, and she's seems happy and is adjusting well. She's eating and drinking - which is good 'cause apparently sometimes they go into major culture shock and stop doing either of those things for a while! This wouldn't be good as she's incubating right now..due to pop in about 6 more weeks. I can hardly wait! We also had soccer this evening, which is usually fun because we get to chat with some friends who we don't normally see.
I was thinking about friends last night, and my heart got really full. I feel so lucky to have the friends that I do, and if you're reading this...then you're most likely one of them :) For the most part, only my friends would really care what I have to say on a blog. I was thinking about old friends...the one's you don't see terribly often, but when you do get together it's like time hasn't passed at all. And I'm so thankful for my old friends because they know my heart. And then there's new friends...I am so thankful for new friends because they put a different perspective on life. You get to see things differently. And then sometimes those new friends become old friends, and that makes life so much richer. Sometimes friendships are there for a season, and then, through no fault of anyone, time marches on and we've all moved along different paths. I'm always richer for those friendships, too...Thank-you to whoever reads this for being my friend and adding to my life.
POETRY
Here's another installment of poetry from the fridge...some good..some not so good, but everyone gets a fair shake around here. Never let it be said that I didn't allow my kids to have a voice! I think everyone in the family is represented here...you'll have to figure out who's who.
I wish I could sing in the language of spring...
~
Our love is a sympony of delirious moments,
beating together-always.
~
We have true power to soar like the light of the sun...
~
A puppy delicately licked my finger,
and I think she whispered, "friend".
~
We are gorgeous goddesses!
~
Did you cook hot raw eggs in fall?
~
Girls are weak, but men eat sausages! (added here against my better judgement!!)
~
~
Here is my current favourite quote:
~
Why should we be in such desperate haste to
succeed, and in such desperate enterprises?
If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
however measured or far away.
- Henry David Thoreau

I totally hear you on the friend thing, what better way to express it then through a blog? Love your fridge poetry! Well, what do you know? Our new horse came home also last night, he settled right in as well.
When do you pitch the tent to sleep outside so you (hopefully) don't miss the big event? :)
Hey WM! I loved, loved this post. My fav. quote was the one about singing the language of spring. I think that song would hum the harmony of crickets, gentle breezes of wind, water flowing down a stream, the wild geese singing their songs high up in the sky, etc...If I sit here long enough, I could easily come up with a few more things that sing the song of spring.
About friends...I have a very special friend, an old friend who I don't see very often, but we have this special connection. When we talk on the phone, we do the catch-up thing for a few minutes but then we jump into the matters of the heart. She and I will always share this special friendship and the best thing is, her husband has also become a special friend!
Of horses...I think they are one of the most beautiful animals God has created, but I am afraid of them. This is a fear that I should maybe work at, but what if...I am bucked off, thrown off. I would love to come see your horse sometime.
Hey Horse chick, I'm glad to hear that your horse is adapting well so far to it's new surroundings. How's J liking it? Our prego lady (the horse) is due to foal out in 6 weeks! Just in time for summer holidays. Bev, horses aren't that scary once you spend time with them. I actually, right now, prefer the ground work to the riding, so you can gladly come on down and just spend some time getting used to "one of the most beautiful animals God has created"! :) I'm going to try and post a pic of her - but not tonite.
btw...loved your "spring sing" bev!
Hey WM! So good to see you yesterday. Too bad we had to work. I could've chatted all morning. :)
Amen to the friends paragraph ...
Well, now you've done it. Your invite for me to read your blog has resulted in me starting my own. I am interested to see how it goes. Have fun!
